Exkates do pretty damn good, Friday, 02 February 2007

Well i ride a 50 inch by 9.5 wide board. and its like snowboarding on the street to me. i dont believe i have the new version with the bonded metal ring but i rode it hard. got wheel bite. but who cares. that means your turning rite? i run 73 mm wheels no risers. and it will "speed wobble" but not in the normal sense. its overcorection from the snapback of the tortional bushings. its you thats the problem on this sorta wobble, not the trucks. but i love em. i think i have the 101 tho. i bought the pair used for 34 bucks of ebay. they rock. were basically new. BUT>..... the axles could be a little more preicely machined to fit bearings if you ask me. no worries tho. i will put them on my 6 foot board if the 201 is wide enough. if not. i think i will try some big randals. leave a commment if you think im wrong about anyhting. and any recommendations for my 6 footer. i want some wide ass trucks.

these trucks are preety good but if you are goint to be goin to be bombing big hills you definately need to think about getting a different bushing for them they have them in 4 different stiffnesses. i would suggest the red ones.

bakus vs. exskate, Friday, 02 February 2007

Written by guest   -  View all my reviews  - #1 Reviewer

i ride mostly ranals...not bad. i can pull maybe a 6-7 foot turn aroud. But i have some bakus and can literaly pull 2-3 foot turn arounds. they turn so sharp that i can rip the rubber right off the hub of a wheel!!! I havn't rode exkates. what do you guys think of exkates? how sharp can you turn them around?

the greatest back truck ever, Friday, 02 February 2007

Written by guest   -  View all my reviews  - #1 Reviewer

When I bought these trucks they were one of the first batches, and not without their own set of problems. Within weeks I was going through bushings like nobodies business and was bummed because as tight as my turning radius was, i kept on having to periodically rip my trucks apart. Later, the company bonded a metal ring to the top and bottom of the bushings and durability has never been better since. BUT, for my style, a hyper-turny grand slalomesque throw yer weight around and throw down some urethane-love-loops on the pavement, type of riding, I cant jibe with the way that these trucks have inconsistent turning feedback. Huh? Because the bushings want to snap back to center, (hence the "no-speed-wobble sales pitch) when you throw down a hard turn the trucks will push back, so you'll overcorrect, lean, overcorrect, lean overcorrect, etc. This complaint stems from stylistic qualms, so many will not feel the same way because we all skate differently. These trucks do not have the same turn in properies of conventional trucks. I once tried these on a really small board and it was a clumsy experience. Baswically conventional trucks will "track" you into your turn intuitively, while torsiontrucks will let you turn, but lack the same feel as carving on conventional trucks. If you wanna have your cake and eat it too, put an exkate as your BACK truck! Its the perfect compromise. Use whatever you'd like up front (I run a tracker dart on my fibreflex, with a canted riser with the tall part forward on classic K's.) and the board has the same steer in properties as usual, but if you compar4e the throw of the front truck vs. the exkate, the exkate moves a lot more, and because its tendency is to not wobble as much, but have more travel for turning, one can have a balanced feel on a longboard with a tight turning radius as well.
