Exkate torsion- fine street surfing, Friday, 02 February 2007

The Exkate Torsion truck definitely walks the middle ground between responsiveness and stability. I love the feel of these trucks on smooth asphault. On rough asphault, I notice the tendency of the bushing to bounce back to center as I need to adjust my center of gravity. This makes achieving that perfect carving angle a bit more of an exact artform. The torsion trucks are marvelous for narrow roads or where you may have to carve down just one side of the road. Short and tight seems to be the functional design of these trucks. As far as carving the road from curbe to curbe, Randals offer the right stability for those big, swooping carves. For anyone seriously into longboarding, I would recommend a shorter longboard with Torsion trucks for tight carving rides and a longer board with Randals for the serious high-speed downhill slopes. On smooth pavement, though, Torsion trucks will carve the hell out of any angle incline. All in all, excellent carving trucks.

These babies turn great. such a fluid turn, and tons of return to ceneter. those who say they don't rebound are the people that over-tighten them

Great S###!!!!, Friday, 02 February 2007

these are great trucks. i have them, and i dont think i could ride anything ever again. i have been longboarding for 7 years and love these babies 10 times more than randals. nice response, good return, very snappy...... the people that are complaining that these trucks have wheel bite are dumasses. if you get wheel bite, then get smaller wheels, tighten your trucks, or get risers. getting a 1/4 inch riser will not affect the ride except that there will be no wheel bite. also, the people that say this board has speed wobble just cant ride. if you get speed wobble then you are riding like an idiot. if you cant go fast with loose trucks than you have a balance issue. trust me, i have been going 40+ MPH on trucks that turn around in a 1 lane street, and got no wobble. you just got to stay low, be able to control your board, and above all balance. ALL speedwobble starts from an accidental quick turn at high speed, and an over correction. you just cant ride if the most stable trucks in the world give you speed wobble. great trucks. if you can ride longboards well, and are not a complete pussy noob, then buy these trucks and you wont be disapointed.

Pros: o Turn well o Have a very "gel" feel to them o Have turn stops to prevent wheelbite* o Lifetime warranty Cons: o Tendancy for the holding pins to break (replacable by warranty; see above) o May feel looser to some riders * I have these on a 46" board with wheel wells and 70mm wheels. The people complaining about wheelbite should probably open up their trucks and see if the pins are broken. If they are, riders are pretty much guaranteed to get bite (and speedwobble) on most longboard wheels. Pin breakage is fairly common among people with these trucks, but you just have to send the trucks back to the company, and they'll repair them for you for free. You just pay shipping. Oftentimes, what happens is that people get the Exkates, feel that the trucks are too loose, and really, really tighten them down. This pressure is what makes breakage more common (thanks to SS for the explanation). In the end, you'll get slightly less turny trucks that'll break within a few sessions. Make sure you get the right kind of bushings before you get the trucks. Other than the pin issue however, you can see from the reviews above that these are great trucks. Just know how to take care of them, and they'll treat you well.

Best Trucks, Friday, 02 February 2007

No, I'm not kidding. And I'm not a newb who hasn't tried other trucks either. Compared to these, I cannot stand randals, they are really squirrly. I have the softest bushings (auburn), and I have NEVER gotten speed wobble, EVER! These make carving a dream, power sliding a dream, and as I said, I never worry about speed. I promise you (unless you're insane) that if you pick some of these up, with the right bushing in them, you will love them. I don't buy anything else.
