Reviews written by 19kai89 97mm, Friday, 03 October 2008 nice for rolling over anything, so nice to commute on, if they weren't so heavy. but still oddly smooth and easy to push. good wheels i suppose, just need an interesting application. Where did you buy them?: landyachtz What are their weaknesses?: way too big for any logical discipline. slide a little too easily at speed. What are their strengths?: huge. insane momentum. roll over damn near anything. What similar equipment have you ridden?: nothing this size. Would you recommend them?: Undecided 215's, Friday, 03 October 2008 Equipment Reviews How long have you ridden them?: number of monthsWhat Setup are you running them on?: schlong board with strikers Typical Discepline?: street cruising. tiny hills? How much did you pay for them?: 50ish? Where did you buy them?: mile high What are their weaknesses?: no old school holes. what the hell's with that? kingpin issues if you're trying to get any decent bushings in there. What are their strengths?: low, wide, stable. great feel. What similar equipment have you ridden?: randals Would you recommend them?: Yes great jack of all trades, Friday, 03 October 2008 Lets get construction out of the way first. It's nice, but does not seem terribly durable. Scrapes can get the fiberglass really roughed up if you're not careful (I've got a great deep gash in mine nearly all the way through, from going off too many high curbs) and the nose and tail, as with any dropped through board, are not the strongest things in the world. The graphic is awful looking as well, not design wise, but the quality is very poor, looks very low res, like a very low dpi print. Some of these are just aesthetics of course, and do not detract from the ride-ability of the board, just something to be aware of. Actually, let's get back to the ride~ The flex is one of the boards defining characteristics. It's very springy, with great rebound and energy in carves. It can also be a little disconcerting at times. In fact, I really didn't like it when I first rode it, as it can throw you off balance if you're not moving with the board. But I've grown to find that it's a really fun attribute that really lends to the speed and agility this thing has when just tearing smooth wide turns down a nice mild hill. Overall, this board has a great fluidity that allows you to move and carve in an unparalleled fashion, great for just about anything. If you're thinking about getting one for any general reason, you really can't go wrong. Longboard Review How long have you ridden the board: a few monthsWhat is your setup like?: loose r2's, bones super swiss six, in heats Typical Session Discipline: mild downhill, garage, commuting, almost sliding. How much did you pay?: 300 or so , complete Where did you purchase it?: daddies What were the strengths of the deck.: very agile, symmetry is nice. What were the weaknesses?: not the most stable board, but not meant to be. Similar decks you have ridden?: nothing that's really comparable, in that it's pretty good at almost everything. Would you recommend it?: Yes One of downhills finest., Friday, 03 October 2008 That out of the way, this thing is big, and stable. I mean, you really have to emphasize just how very, very stable at speed it is, it absorbs road imperfections well, and it has a great concave and size that lets you get get a very low, wide stance. It's drop is very significant so foot breaking is very easy on this, even at speed, as the ground is right there. This drop also lends a very low center of gravity, good for said stability, not great for leverage, so the board is far from agile, but certainly not terrible. Great construction as well, very tough board. Took getting hit by an suv to kill mine. Overall a great board that does what it was made to do, impeccably. Longboard Review How long have you ridden the board: a good couple monthsWhat is your setup like?: bear's and flywheels. ran them pretty tight. Typical Session Discipline: downhill and a bit of commuting, oddly enough. How much did you pay?: 300 or so complete Where did you purchase it?: from landyachtz What were the strengths of the deck.: extremely stable. very durable and nice construction. nice large platform, with great concave. What were the weaknesses?: if you don't like the wedging, you might consider that a weakness. it's heavy, so if you're not going downhill, that's probably considered a weakness. dropped, so not the most agile board. Similar decks you have ridden?: other downhill boards, but nothing dropped as significantly. Would you recommend it?: Yes easily one of the best online retailers, Friday, 03 October 2008 great on keeping up to date with products, if it's the hot new thing, revamp of a deck, they'll more than likely have it, and let you know it's the new awesome one, nice and reassuring if you wanna make sure that dervish you got was the new stronger one, whatever. and great customer service, have always gotten back to me incredibly quickly with any questions, add ons, etc. very helpful and informed. all around my favorite place to go. Retailer Reviews What did you buy?: loaded dervish, rayne avenger, randall r2's, orangatang in heats, ew superballs, risers, bearings, tools, other stuff...When did you buy it?: a few days ago, and a few months ago How much did you spend?: 500 or so Was the site easy to navigate if the purchase was online?: very easy to navigate, though the site could be a little more focused, as it is, there can be a lot going on on each page, but whatever, easy. Did the purchase go smoothly?: absolutely Did you feel like they appreciated your business?: yes Would You recommend them in the future?: mos. def. << Start < Prev 1 Next > End >> Results 1 - 5 of 5 |
