Reviews written by Er-eek! Superb wheel!, Sunday, 26 April 2009 Equipment Reviews How long have you ridden them?: A weekWhat Setup are you running them on?: Never Summer Heist, Bear 852 Grizzlies. Typical Discepline?: Freeride, parking garage, carving How much did you pay for them?: Discounted on custom build. Where did you buy them?: Muir Surf & Skate What are their weaknesses?: Other than the fact they only come in orange and purple, I can't find any weakness yet! I haven't broken mine in yet so I can't honestly say how well they slide. What are their strengths?: Unbelievable ride and energy return. The grip is awe-inspiring. I ran over a "Hot Wheels" car bombing a hill (I didn't see it... it was night time) and I figured I would have taken out a huge chunk, yet there wasn't even a scratch! What similar equipment have you ridden?: Various Abec 11, Retro, Zigs, Bennett 'gators. Would you recommend them?: Yes Great design and finish., Sunday, 26 April 2009 Equipment Reviews How long have you ridden them?: Rougly a week. What Setup are you running them on?: Never Summer Heist, Orangatang "In Heat" 75mm 80a Typical Discepline?: Freeride, garages, carving How much did you pay for them?: Discounted in a custom build from Muir Surf & Skate. Where did you buy them?: Uh, obviously Muir. What are their weaknesses?: Scott recomended the upgrade to Khiro black 95a rear (under the hanger) bushings. As a result of the set-up I have I can't find any weakness yet. What are their strengths?: Great carve, amazing pump & relatively agile. The finish is better than Randal's and the casting method produces a truly beautiful truck. Even the base plate exposed on the drop through is sexy! What similar equipment have you ridden?: Randal, Holey, Paris. Would you recommend them?: Yes Dervish, Shmervish..., Sunday, 26 April 2009 Longboard Review How long have you ridden the board: Roughly a week, give or take. What is your setup like?: Bear Grizzlies 852 with upgraded Khiro bushings (orange top (79a)and black bottom (95a), Orangatang "In Heat" wheels75mm 80a. Typical Session Discipline: Carving, cruising, mild bombing (I'm in NE Texas, I can't bring the mountain to Mohammed!), parking garages... How much did you pay?: About $230. Where did you purchase it?: Muir Surf & Skate (READ that review too... GREAT SHOP!) What were the strengths of the deck.: I'm roughly 150/155 lbs., so for my weight the flex is PERFECT. The flex pattern of this design seems to generate more inertia rather than rob you of it. This thing carves like a heated chef's knife through warm butter, unbelievable! What were the weaknesses?: I've got to agree with "OrangeMan73", this board does have a slight learning curve. If you have any concept of flex and pumping, however, this board is where it's at. Yet as far as the design, I have yet to see or feel any true weakness. It's got a mild flex to it, if you know that going into your purchase, and that's what you buy it for then there is no weakness. Similar decks you have ridden?: Yes, a Dervish. However once the construction, longevity and overall design are taken into consideration there really is no comparison (has everyone mentioned the three year warranty?!?) Would you recommend it?: Yes TOPS in customer service and selection!, Tuesday, 21 April 2009 Retailer Reviews What did you buy?: Never Summer Heist, Bear Grizzlies, Orangatang In Heats, Khyro BushingsWhen did you buy it?: A matter of hours ago How much did you spend?: Around $230 Was the site easy to navigate if the purchase was online?: I started on line, only to discover that I had a couple of questions that couldn't be answered by looking at pictures and words... I NEEDED PERSONAL SERVICE. Did I get it? IN SPADES!!! I didn't talk to some shop rat, I talked to the man in charge, Scott. Scott went far beyond what most shops are willing to do. He dialed in my ride for not only my weight and riding style, but for what I wanted to spend. Did the purchase go smoothly?: Unbelievably smooth. Glassy even!! Did you feel like they appreciated your business?: Yes. Moments after my board was built and packed for it's 2000+ mile voyage, I not only received an e-mail from UPS regarding my tracking information BUT an e-mail from Scott as well thanking me for my business. We also spoke on the phone regarding the transaction and delivery. Would You recommend them in the future?: To answer with a simple "yes" would be selling it short! Absolutely! This Skunk don't stink!!!, Monday, 03 November 2008 Retailer Reviews What did you buy?: Pool board, long board, trucks, a couple of "requisite" T-shirts and an abundance of shwag! When did you buy it?: Two or three months ago... How much did you spend?: A hell of a lot less than anywhre else in SF!! It's expensive here! Was the site easy to navigate if the purchase was online?: The site is very easy to navigate and the images and description are, for the most part, very accurate and helpful. Did the purchase go smoothly?: Absolutely. Did you feel like they appreciated your business?: Unlike most of the other shops in SF, Purple Skunk is both helpful and "genuinely" interested in their customers. I didn't have to be in their "crew" or clique to get the help and information I desired. Great attitude and commitment to customer service! Would You recommend them in the future?: Without a doubt! This shop is THE S**T!!! << Start < Prev 1 Next > End >> Results 1 - 5 of 5 |
