Reviews written by JeepBro5 Mixed results..., Tuesday, 09 December 2008 For the record, Seismic has since changed the wheels a bit - the ones I bought last year were a dark translucent red with a black core. I don't know if the quality control issue has changed along with it. Equipment Reviews How long have you ridden them?: 6 monthsWhat Setup are you running them on?: Homemade 42" pine deck, no flex; Randal 180 Typical Discepline?: Commute, cruise, small hills, just for fun. How much did you pay for them?: ~$40 Where did you buy them?: eBay What are their weaknesses?: Durability and quality of construction were lacking in the set I got - there were many bubbles in the wheels, and it just took one incident to destroy two of the wheels... A friend of mine slid and wiped out into a curb on my board and tore a big chunk out of one wheel and shredded up another. I wasn't there to see the wreck so I don't know just how hard he was on them, but I still wasn't happy about that... I've hit curb before with cheaper slalom wheels (S9 69mm, low duro...) and they didn't tear. They also wore much better than the Avalons and had no bubbles or other flaws. I rate durability, construction, longevity, and slide lower for these reasons. I never personally tried to slide on these wheels, and the other two wheels that weren't damaged had worn quite nicely. What are their strengths?: Stuck like glue to the road, even when it rained. Look great, feel great, gave a nice, smooth ride. The wheels preformed in every way I wanted them to, except for durability. What similar equipment have you ridden?: S9 slalom wheels Would you recommend them?: Undecided College dream, Tuesday, 09 December 2008 Longboard Review How long have you ridden the board: 6 months-ishWhat is your setup like?: Gullwing Chargers; 75mm lime Retro BigZigs; Black Panther abec 7 bearings Typical Session Discipline: Small hills, crusing, commuting, getting to class - pedestrian slalom How much did you pay?: $300 Where did you purchase it?: eBay, TLS, MHS What were the strengths of the deck.: All-around fun ride! I think it's all been said here already, but I just want to put in my .02 - this board makes going to class in the morning enjoyable! It's long enough for a stable ride, flexy enough for a comfortable ride, and still agile enough to avoid bikers and pedestrians who cut me off. Also, the nose and tail on my board have held up nicely. I was afraid that they'd splinter but there's just a few minor scuffs, no dents or breaks. What were the weaknesses?: Design on the bottom is scratching off fairly easily around the edges. Similar decks you have ridden?: None... Would you recommend it?: Yes Simple, clean, easy to use, Tuesday, 09 December 2008 Everything you need is included in the box. Looks great - when the board is in place all you really see is the deck, makes for a nice display. Easy to use - just pull the board out of the rack and you're good to go. Takes just a second to use. Used it for over a year so far and there's been no flaws or malfunction. A bit expensive but well worth the money in my experience! Only one thing I did not like about this rack - it did not hold my Dervish. The board needs to have some curves or some roundness in the design to hold it in place - the straight rails on the Dervish allowed it to just slide right out after a few hours. My other decks work fine though, they hold securely in place and it is easy to pull them from the rack or put them back in place. << Start < Prev 1 Next > End >> Results 1 - 3 of 3 |
