Reviews written by RickSulzer Honey Carver, Sunday, 24 June 2007 Longboard Review How long have you ridden the board: 3 weeksWhat is your setup like?: Setup for flatland long distance pumping. Wegded Splitfire Pro 107 with 77a Reflex Gumballs in front, flat RTS 1-6 with 80a Reflex Gumballs in rear. Wheel base extended 2 1/2 inches on rear truck. Typical Session Discipline: LDP > 5 miles How much did you pay?: 125 shipped Where did you purchase it?: Direct from Honey, arrived in less than 1 week What were the strengths of the deck.: First impression: it?s a beautiful, classy pintail. It has a medium concave and camber, and a stiff flex. You won?t notice the camber while riding it. For hills the stock wheelbase is ideal. At 175 lbs there is just a hint of flex. The grip surface is good, and works well with the concave, while still highlighting the wood veneers. The shape provides a full wide surface for your lead foot, while allowing the rear to hang over the edge on both toe and heel for extra leverage. What were the weaknesses?: It?s an all-wood deck, so the flex/snap may degrade over time, especially if it gets wet or you live in a humid climate. However, this seems to be more of a problem with birch construction, rather than he maple that this deck uses. Similar decks you have ridden?: Vanguard Loaded, Fibreflex 38? pintail, Fibreflex 42? cutaway, Landyacht 33? Mummy, Gravity 47? Hypercarve, Commet 33? street slalom. This deck is stiffer than all of the wook/glass decks above except maybe the Mummy. The flex is much snapper that the all birch Hypercarve. The wheel base is ideal for LDP. Would you recommend it?: Yes << Start < Prev 1 Next > End >> Results 1 - 1 of 1 |
