Newsflash

Pocket Pistol's B. "Chicken" Deck is all over the import industry's use of heat-transfer graphics to boards.  Sure, he's a silk-screen traditionalist (and one of the best), but there's more to this than just gripin':  heat breaks down epoxy and the boards get hot!

Even though I just bought a Loaded Vanguard, this board is still far from confined to my closet.
Longboard Review
How long have you ridden the board: Close to a year
What is your setup like?: Randal RII-180's (Stock yellow bushings)
Abec 11 Biltin Bearings
Abec 11 70's Flashbacks (70mm)
1/4" risers

Typical Session Discipline: Cruising from class to class
How much did you pay?: $130
Where did you purchase it?: Amazon.com
What were the strengths of the deck.: It's a great beginners deck. It's solid, durable, and most importantly: cheap while still being a legitimate longboard. I got it as my first board, and it rode well enough to make me want to keep going. This board taught me how to handle speed and eliminate wobbles, carve, coss-step, do some basic sliding, and just get a general feel of what I can and can't do on a board. It's an all-around good board and I'm glad it was the first one I bought. While switching to non-stock wheels and bearings was a move I don't regret, you can definitely have plenty of good times with this board in its stock setup.
What were the weaknesses?: The biggest concern is that there are no wheel cutouts. I like to keep my trucks loose so I can navigate around campus and just carve in general, and there have been a few instances where I've gotten wheelbite so bad that I've actually taken some of the finish off the bottom of the board. Also, while learning on a non-flexy board can be a plus, over time you'll be looking for something with a bit of give in it.
Similar decks you have ridden?: Dunno, maybe some more basic Sector 9's.
Would you recommend it?: Yes
