Michael Stefaun's new Pro Deck from Pool Kings is bringing the bling!  Look at that thing!  Click it to visit the site.

Stefaun's roots are in street skating. Therefore, it's only natural that his pool shape closely resembles the traditional, double-end, twin tip shape that so many street decks incorporate. Michael's Pool King deck is constructed using polymer composites and 5 plys of hard rock maple veneers. Pool Kings claim these are 8 ounces lighter than standard 7 ply wood decks of the same size and shape and retain their "pop" for a longer time as well.

I've always liked Independent trucks. I wish I'd gotten some of the older stages and hoarded away my gear. I'm actually starting to replace more of my reverse king-pin trucks with Indy's and Bennetts.
Equipment Reviews
How long have you ridden them?: Since 1986
What Setup are you running them on?: Currently: 169's on EW 38" Drifter, Poolking Stefaun.
215's on Loaded Vanguard

Typical Discepline?: Commuting/ slide/ park
How much did you pay for them?: $17-$20
Where did you buy them?: Everywhere, online, brick and mortar stores.
What are their weaknesses?: Lack of old school holes, new knurled kingpin means you can't easily replace them with longer ones. You need a longer kingpin to add some turnier bushings up top, like Khiro Barrels.
What are their strengths?: I love the way they turn, and they've been around forever.
What similar equipment have you ridden?: Trackers, Venture, no-name.
Would you recommend them?: Yes

This board has won the Broadway Bomb for the past few years. It's a great sprinting deck that translates well into a great commuter. I'm guessing by the graphic EW chose for the bottom, that they must think that this is a decent downhill board. I didn't set up my Charger that way. My commuting setups have to be low and lean, so I don't get tired pushing, and so I don't get foot-bite or catch my wheel on obstacles while I'm trying to keep my eyes forward. I'll have to see when I get my Bennett 6.0's mounted on this deck to see if it'll replace the 'Glider as my favorite EW board.
Longboard Review
How long have you ridden the board: 3 months of commuting
What is your setup like?: Current trucks:Randall 150's; will try Bennett 6.0's this week.
Previous trucks:Randall 180's; too wide for me.
Indy 169's; wheelbite even with 62mm wheels.
Wheels: 70mm Lime ZigZags
Bearings: Bones Red/Spacers

Typical Session Discipline: Commuting
How much did you pay?: $87.95
Where did you purchase it?: Socalskateshop
What were the strengths of the deck.: Kicktail- I need this in my commuter boards.
Construction- S-glass sandwiching 5-ply is magic for me. It's so thin, yet strong.
Concave- "W" concave is nice.

What were the weaknesses?: Could use some cutouts or wheel wells, but I think they've done that with the current generation. Earthwing is constantly improving their designs, so these weaknessess may no longer exist in the future.
Similar decks you have ridden?: Earthwing Superglider and Bustin Complex. The SG is a more agile board, but there are days I feel like taking out a bigger board.
Would you recommend it?: Yes

At first I didn't like this board and could see why a lot of people were down on it. When I finally put some Indy 169's, this board just responded! I put on some of my newly purchased Pink Big Zigs and Bones Reds, and I found my perfect setup for commuting! This board is so low now, it's like I'm on a magic carpet or people mover. I might refinish the bottom and put down a layer of slip tape to keep the wood safe. The only changes I'd make to this board would be to widen it a little in the front, make the tail more usable and maybe stretch out the deck by a couple of inches. I'll probably have to make a board to replace this one. Just because this board is dropped doesn't mean you should use it for DH. I think thats one reason why a lot of people were let down by this board. There must be plenty of people that use it for what is was designed, because Landyachtz still has it in the lineup.
Longboard Review
How long have you ridden the board: 2 years
What is your setup like?: Used to have Randall DHs and 70mm grippins
Now: Indy 169's
75mm Pink BigZigs
Bones Reds
steel spacers

Typical Session Discipline: Commuting
How much did you pay?: $174
Where did you purchase it?: Gearguys
What were the strengths of the deck.: Dropped deck makes kicking easy.
Cutouts enable you to mount some large wheels.
Board was sealed well.
There is a very long tail.
Concave is nice, provided it fits you.

What were the weaknesses?: I bought this deck as a complete with Randall DH's- Man, I did not like that. It's a good thing I still had some old school Indy 169's.

The lowered deck has a tendency to scrape and maybe even hang up on long speed bumps or steep crosswalk ramps.

The kick tail is actually useless for me. It's so long and almost feels out of place when you're searching for it with your back foot.

This deck may not fit those of you with large feet(I'm a size 9 mens), and then the concave will hurt your arches.

Similar decks you have ridden?: I have an Evo, but it doesn't have a tail. My other commuter boards that have tails are topmounts (EW Superglider/Supercharger and Bustin Complex). This is my favorite setup for long distance pushing/commuting due to the leg-friendly drop.
Would you recommend it?: Yes

I'm still tweaking my setups with this board. I like my commuting setups to be low and narrow, so that I can push easily and keep a narrow profile while I'm slaloming people and splitting lanes in traffic.

I love the shape of this board and its concave, I just wish it had a livelier feel and was a little lighter. I'd love to see this board with some fiberglass on it. This board has a unique look to it. It's got great concave and a very usable tail.
Longboard Review
How long have you ridden the board: 5 months
What is your setup like?: Indy 169 Orange bottom/ White top-- I'm putting Bennett 5.0 on this deck again, though.
Lime Zigs 66mm/80A
Lunatic Bearings
Wedged front/back

Typical Session Discipline: Commuting, car dodging
How much did you pay?: $80
Where did you purchase it?: Bustin website
What were the strengths of the deck.: Long, with a kick tail, and the curves and concave on this board feels good under foot. The upturned nose and kick tail, you've got wedging built in. You can set this deck up as an LDP with the short nose, just dewedge the back and wedge the front to your liking.
What were the weaknesses?: There's some flex to the board, but it's okay for me at 165lbs. Some of you wishing a stiffer board may want to try before you buy. This board doesn't have cutouts, so if you're running conventional trucks, like Indy or Bennett, you may have to wedge or use tall risers to prevent wheelbite. I didn't have bite problems with Randalls, though.
Similar decks you have ridden?: Earthwing Superglider and Supercharger. I have both of these boards in my quiver, and the Complex falls between the 'glider and 'charger. It's length is a couple inches shorter than the Supercharger, and longer than the glider. It just has that long tail that I feel every urban board should have.
Would you recommend it?: Yes

The Bustin crew's been great to deal with, and they've got a great thing going with the custom graphic/color selection. I can't wait for them to start working with bamboo.
Longboard Review
How long have you ridden the board: 5 months
What is your setup like?: Stiffer flex board, 5.0 Bennetts, 62mm /78A Alligators, Lunatic bearings, spacers, and shock riser pad.

I like a low and narrow setup. I feel like I'm getting close to my optimum setup.

Typical Session Discipline: Pumping, carving, commuting
How much did you pay?: $70 deck only at Bustin's Misprint Sale
Where did you purchase it?: Bustin web store
What were the strengths of the deck.: Upturned nose get you a little wedging going on, but make sure you have at least a shock riser pad, just to keep things flat. You've got two wheelbase choices for stability or agility. You can design your own graphics, which is a plus for those wanting their own boards. There are cutouts that keep wheelbite away.
What were the weaknesses?: When I was tightening my front trucks without using risers, I could feel the nose flatten out a little, like the mounting holes had been placed along the curve, and not on the flat part. The deck feels a little heavy and dead compared to my other boards with 5-ply composite construction.
Similar decks you have ridden?: none, really, it's the shortest board in my quiver.
Would you recommend it?: Yes
