Brian at Earthwing has got a great thing going. They've got slide decks that can be used at parks, and they've got boards like the Superglider and Supercharger that you can ride to the park with the slider boards strapped to your back! Kaspar's won the Broadway bomb a few years now with the Supercharger, so if you want a fast pushing board (some would call it a sprinter), you'll get it with the Superglider. Sometimes you need a nimble board you can ride on the sidewalk and then drop into the street and split lanes through traffic(when the sidewalk gets too full), and that's what I feel are the Superglider's strengths. I commute with a dropped deck Landy Urban Assault also, but I get sick of scraping bottom sometimes.
Longboard Review
How long have you ridden the board: Three weeks
What is your setup like?: Bennett 5.0's with Holey smoke hourglass on bottom front truck, stock Bennett bushings everywhere else, Speedy Lunatic bearings, Bennett Alligator 71mm/78A wheels, Mini-Logo grip tape, no risers. I commute on some narrow sidewalks at times, so the ideal setup for me is a low truck like Indy's (but I'd need risers) or any other conventional pivot truck.
Typical Session Discipline: Getting to work and back as stylishly as possible
How much did you pay?: $65
Where did you purchase it?: Mile High Skates
What were the strengths of the deck.: I like how thin the board is, and this is achieved by 5-ply sandwiched between S-glass. There's enough flex for me at my 160 lbs, and the tail makes the board a little more versatile. I don't ollie the thing, but it's nice to know that you can drop down some curbs or kick turn if needed. The width is perfect for me, and the concave is just enough to lock your feet in. This board is great for pushing around. The wheelbase makes the board feel shorter than it is, and that makes it more nimble when commuting. I easily lose track of distance with this board.
What were the weaknesses?: Then only weakness I'd see is that maybe it could use some cutouts for mounting bigger wheels, but I like this thing Lowwww...
Similar decks you have ridden?: Bustin Complex - has a bigger tail and is a little thicker. It seems to have a little more flex than the Superglider. I'm still tweaking my setup with the Complex, so I can't tell you which one to get between the two.
Would you recommend it?: Yes
