Reviews written by wtUBsmokin The Bamboo Warrior, Thursday, 27 November 2008 I've heard many people say that a dervish will start to get wobbles around 30mphish....honestly...Totally NOT true! last night I'd hit 42mph on a local hill with minor wobbles that weren't even worth nothing; keeping in mind that I was using Paris trucks, so I didn't necessarily have an upper hand or anything, and I ride my trucks quite loose. The one and ONLY problem that I have doing higher speeds is that when you hit bumps, unlike most stiffer decks where it's the bump that's the problem, on a Dervish it's more of the bounce that the bump produces afterwards....you have to catch yourself and prepare for the whiplash/bounce on occasion. Adam Colton has also recently started doing DH events with the Dervish I believe and Louis Polloni too...Dervish is taking over kids!....might be a bit optomistic there, but it's a nice idea. *two thumbs up* Protect yo noggin BrothDudes! Longboard Review How long have you ridden the board: 2 monthishWhat is your setup like?: Flex 1 Deck Paris 180's w/bangin' eagle graphic from East Coast Board Co. Stock Bushings (not venoms) Abec 11 Biltin Bearings 75mm BigZigs/70mm Grippins Typical Session Discipline: Sliding, DH, Crusing, Little bit of dancing (not that good yet) How much did you pay?: Deck- $180, Setup- $230ish Where did you purchase it?: East Coast Board Co. What were the strengths of the deck.: It's Bamboo, that's what the strength is! Extremely resilient Nice bounce Is you a speed demon? no worries...bamboo's still the way to go What were the weaknesses?: There really isn't any...feel free to prove me wrong though :p Similar decks you have ridden?: None...I've had a landyachtz spud before, so you can imagine it was quite a change for me. Would you recommend it?: Yes Ma Babay, Saturday, 21 June 2008 Longboard Review How long have you ridden the board: 3 weeksWhat is your setup like?: Randall II 180's Sector 9 85mm Abec 11 biltins Typical Session Discipline: cruise, downhill, and sliding How much did you pay?: $209 Where did you purchase it?: Daddies What were the strengths of the deck.: Incredibly stable, wide deck, carving is a breeze considering the lowered design, and I'm a beginner, so the lowered deck definitely has helped me get the feel of pumping quicker...if you find the right rhythm when pumping/carving, the deck gives you a pendulum-like feeling which=sweetness...also if you sit at either side of the board and eland back it is awesome for luging..the curve ends up right on your neck/upper back. What were the weaknesses?: ridiculously low. I've scratched the bottom of that board 5 times more on the first day than the other 20 days I've had the board...with time though, you get used to the boards limits pretty easily and ride accordingly. the middle of the board also feels really flimsy...I'm actually pretty scared of ever standing smack-dab on the middle of the board...I'm sure it could hold my weight (170lbs) but don't really feel like taking the chance. Similar decks you have ridden?: DH Race Would you recommend it?: Yes << Start < Prev 1 Next > End >> Results 1 - 2 of 2 |
