Michael Stefaun's new Pro Deck from Pool Kings is bringing the bling! Look at that thing! Click it to visit the site.
Stefaun's roots are in street skating. Therefore, it's only natural that his pool shape closely resembles the traditional, double-end, twin tip shape that so many street decks incorporate. Michael's Pool King deck is constructed using polymer composites and 5 plys of hard rock maple veneers. Pool Kings claim these are 8 ounces lighter than standard 7 ply wood decks of the same size and shape and retain their "pop" for a longer time as well.
"For one week in August, the world’s greatest gravity racers can be found in one place: the 2008 Maryhill Festival of Speed, home of this year’s IGSA World Championships. 200 of gravity sport’s biggest names will take center stage in a five day celebration of speed, skill and loose definitions of personal safety."
On Saturday, October 11th, 2008 at 2:30-4:00 PM ET/11:30AM-1:00 PM PT, the Jeep World of Adventure Sports plays on NBC --regular, prime time NBC-- and will feature the 2008 IGSA World Championships at Maryhill Festival of Speed! If you were there, you saw our friends from Aura 360 with a camera crew on the hill, interviewing skaters and setting up on-board video runs. On Saturday, MFOS will be one of five "adventure sports" in the NBC show. Click the pic above to hit their website for The Jeep World of Adventure Sports! If you missed it, click the link we've embedded above to jump over to see 11 minutes worth on Google Vids.
Then sit your butt down, set your DV recorder and check out the racing and Scoot Smith's amazing final run to take the World Championship as the first-ever repeat winner at Maryhill. None of us have seen the final product and we don't know how it's been edited to present the racing, but the crew let us see some raw footage through the camera and it looked killer. How long has it been since America has seen speedboard racing on television? Call your family, call your friends, call your high school principal and tell them, "THIS is what we do, so check it out!" Then, dye your hair green because Friday, October 10th is Scoot Smith Day. When people ask "WTF?" Tell'em to watch it on television.
