I burned my last tube of it a few years ago. White lithium grease at an auto parts or marine parts store will do just as well.
Again, I'm not looking for fastest, just good maintenance rather easy and cheaply done.

    Oh, Skully! Haha

I got products from Nano Oil coming in this week. We'll see how they stack up. They even have their own grease.

@skully, Why didn't you just get this instead of the Finish Line products?

    Gear oil is $7/qt.
Not a tough choice for me.

I have seen a lot of snake-oil sold for silly prices. Mostly it is just bunkum.

The nano ceramic advertised in the 8300 and 9300 seems impressive but is a "secret" and unproven or revealed outside of marketing, better than most competition but any critical comparison I'm thinking is against their other products. I still trust them.

I have a set of green zealous bearings and they have held up well. I haven't taken them apart to clean and re oil yet, as I want to keep the factory lube in them. After a couple of seasons they are still rolling great on my board with carver trucks. It's real handy the way they are made so as to have built in spacers and not need speed washers either. Great design.

Yay everyone! Old time raceboarder here, snow that is, about to buy my first longboard, and totally overwhelmed with all the choices. I'd like a cruiser with some moderate downhilling. And yea, I'll be 43 this year!

Welcome to the old folks home, virginator. Not sure what longboard you should start with, but we can tell you all about bearing lube.

If you have a skate shop nearby, take some time to stand on a whole bunch of boards. Don't bother with the pintails. One or more of the boards will feel good. Pick wheels that are big and soft. Spend as much on safety gear as you do on the board. If you can find some other longboarders to ride with, start meeting up with them. Enjoy our little hobby/sport!

Likewise. Because when they do start getting noisy and I'm faced with the prospect of stripping down bearings, getting acetate all over my hands, making tinfoil drip trays to carry them around, getting the wife's hairdrier on them, then lubing and reassembling ... I just think, naaaaah, much easier to buy a new set.

EDIT: LOL @radeng "Welcome to the old folks home, virginator. Not sure what longboard you should start with, but we can tell you all about bearing lube."

Don't worry too hard about pintails. There's a reason that nearly every company out there makes a pintail, or some sort of derivative design: It's a time-tested design that works well.

What I used to customers at the shop is this: It doesn't matter what kind of board you have, or what brand. What matters is getting your feet on a board and making sure it's comfortable for you, and that you enjoy it. If it's not comfortable, you won't ride it; if you won't ride it, it's not fun, and you've wasted $200.

B-b-but my friends say their friend's Original pintail with spring trucks that cause speed wobbles at 10 MPH are betterer than mine and looks cooler.

Wasted $200?!? Speaking for myself, I've "wasted" a lot more than that! Lol!

Welcome @virginator. I think that a good board to start with is a symetrical "drop deck". I own a Rayne Nemesis. Symetrical because they're super easy to set up. You can put about any truck and wheel combo on them and you don't need to jack them up with risers for wheel clearance. Drop deck because they're low out of the gate and easy to get use to. The Nemesis has a simple flat standing platform. It might not be for everybody, but the shape of the board doesn't alienate people either with standing platform shapes that are uncomfortable for your feet.

Reference Link => Hi Kids! I'm a board.

I have this deck =>Rayne Nemesis Longboard Deck
But I paid way more for it. $125 is a real good price.

You can't go wrong with this =>Clutch Lambchop

By the way, both stores are solid.
