@InnADrift: Maryhill wheels: 2 fresh sets of anything that seems like a Maryhill wheel will do ya (other than Steamrollers - they sucked). You want those sharp edges. I've heard people talking **** about the grip on Farleys. I'd take the Rollz and Sniper R's, and the WillyZ for good measure. My experience with barely used, 1x slid WillyZ on Mary was grip city. I remember seeing Mesc out there on Turbos. He did not appear to be suffering.

I think the Snipers would be the go-tos out of what you've got (wide, soft, new).

    Wait. No SteamRollerz?

I think I took 2 or 3 runs on them in their original form, then the tailwinds picked up, I turned in to a kitty-cat, and I put smaller wheelz on to try and go slower.

I'm gonna try and give them a chance with their new lip profile this weekend. We shall see...

Well no dawn patrol for me this morning. LOL... actually since I retired I still get up early but I get up early to work on my boat.

I got Judy out to the lake fishing yesterday and we got some bass and bluegill. Lots of trout were there eating blue darning needles but we could not catch them.

I had been working day and night on the experimental boat and I got it to come together just enough that it was seaworthy for a Father's Day Excursion.

We made it all the way to the whirlpool at the headwaters of Hensley Lake, & only one fish was caught outside of that area.

    Nearly 9 kwh.

LI batteries and advanced Chargers would be nice. But those damn things get hot if they're damaged, they burn, can explode & they start fires.

One of the worst things that can happen on a boat is it catches fire & burns out from under you.

My phone has lithium ion batteries and after a few hours in the hundred degrees sun over here then the phone shut down.

So I don't know if Li is going to be a good deal for boats or not.

But lead batteries are sure heavy, and I'm running right around the Practical weight limit for this boat. If I want to carry four adults I should really take out two of the batteries

Because my main intention in creating an electric boat was to give up gasoline on the water, that also means giving up a gasoline generator to recharge the batteries if I'm out a long time. I can remove One battery and add a 50 lb generator, which will essentially keep me moving as long as I have fuel.

The idea is that I want to be able to run the generator not off of gasoline, but off of little propane camping cylinders. It's not the cheapest way to operate, but nearly pollution-free compared to gasoline.

Default Lordy, Lordy if you're 40+ Come on in!

Went to get some after work mountain runs with Mesc and we ran across this..

We helped slow down cars coming down the hill so he could turn around. That driver was nuts for thinking he could bring a big rig up there. My gf came with beer, so we chilled a bit and then took a run. There were unsuspecting tailwinds, opposite of what we get in the morning and the road was probably the fastest I've ever skated it. Even with carving to try to scrub. Gf was driving shuttle and said she was going 40-45 trailing us. Mesc was quite a bit ahead of me and was going faster. It was an awesome run! Hot, buggy, and wheels broke free around a few turns. The rocks through Dead Man's and Marbles added to the excitement. At the end we were chillin, checking out each other's seat ups, and I'll leave it at even 5-10 pounds makes a difference with wheelbite

Maryhill report: The G-Ride was super fun but insanely hot. Today was the high, at 102. Riding up in crowded U-Hauls with leathers on was very difficult. I almost passed out a couple of times, even with constant pulls from my hydropack. Friday was the first time I had ever ridden Maryhill with no leathers, we were just practicing stopping drills on short sections. This included different kinds of footbraking, including Mongo switch! Lots of homework to do there. The sliding drills were great, I did my best heelsides ever, they usually are so terrible.

Saturday morning was still no leathers, we did super giant slalom and giant slalom down the stretch from Cowzers to the final left. Very fun! After lunch we swapped our slidey wheels for square lipped, and finally put on leathers. Skate School leader Joe split the group into two, putting some coaches in charge of the group going to the top (for those who could already skate down without footbraking) and taking the rest up the hill in segments. I went with the group to the top and followed coach Max Capps' line down, it was amazing to skate behind him and watch his every move. Dude has the most modified board I've ever seen. I'm going to try some of his mods. Most of the runs were very mellow, the winds were non-existent this time.

A memory I'll treasure forever, I was in the right place at the right time to take some runs with Cliff Coleman. This was his first time ever to Maryhill, but he was killing it for a guy in his mid 60's. Watching him perform his namesake slide in the shutdown area is something I'll never forget. It was an honor and privilege to meet him, he's a very chill guy with no pretensions at all. We ate pizza together and he told me that being a skateboard legend has its pitfalls, he is critical of skate industry marketing practices so he avoids the limelight.

I had the opportunity to meet Kelder too, but we didn't get a chance to take a run together. Maybe next time.

Sunday was try to go fast day, so we worked on power pushing, tucks, passing techniques, sticking the line, etc...

Overall, a fantastic weekend even with the crazy heat. Pics to come.
