    Default Made some new trucks.

    I didn't know if I should put this here, or in board building.
    I decided it would be funner to put it here.

    Anyway, Last night got together to make a board, ended up making some trucks instead.
    We've been wanting to start experimenting with Dirtboard trucks/buttboard trucks. And one of the things we decided to try was a 6" wide cam.
    ( Cam being a component of our truck that acts kinda like a rocking chair, it makes the truck more stable. the wider it is, the more stable the truck becomes. )

    On top of that, I've always kinda wanted to make some trucks out of wood, and this was a good excuse to do it.

    Everything from figuring out the design, geometry, etc. all the way to the finished product took only about 2 /1/2 hours.

    Anyway, Here they are!

    Pretty much the biggest trucks I've ever seen in my life.

    Channel trucks, They've got 13* pivot angle, 32* deck lean, Running a 6" wide Cam.
    ZERO resistance
    Got a nice video rundown.

    Seriously the craziest ride I've ever seen.

    Of course, We're not going to go and abuse them, at least not until we attach the axle more securely. But if you were ever wondering if you could make a functional truck out of wood, Or if you ever wanted to see a truck the size of your head... there you go.

    nice vid, cool trucks! new challenge for you guys: wooden precisions XD

    but really, thats pretty cool! it seems as if you designed it around kiteboarding, go out and bring back some footage (when the weather shapes up)

    get some reppz

    These are actually pretty dang precise.
    WAY more precise than we can get with cast parts, because of they way material will shrink when it cools causes the shape to deform in minute ways.

    If it wasn't for the friction from wood on wood, they would definitely feel like precisions.

    We're hoping that by the time the weather shapes up, We'll have some aluminum trucks made.

    That might be the most absurd thing I've seen all day.

    Dude! Wax the wood for friction, stain the trucks for aesthete and continue with the win! Those are cool and spew gallons of stoke. If you do a step-by-step on version 2, ham it up with stain and "precision talk"... I'll run you on the front page of the 'fish.

    An update:
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNINi7-H-i4]YouTube - Dirtboard update[/ame]

    Once we get the cam and the angles how we like, we're going to get a better axle on the thing that's not just held on by grabber screws.
    Probably a project for next weekend.

    HAHA!

    We got to do some more development with this during the warm spell this week.

    We found that the current setup is pretty awesome for buttboarding, so we're running with that for the time being.

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCimvgjtylA]YouTube - Giant Wooden Trucks, Buttboarding.[/ame]

    We're going to have to do a bit more testing before we make changes but...
    -initially we feel that it DOES need some sort of flat spot on the cam.
    -Cam should probably be half an inch smaller.
    -A neoprene cam vs a wooden one would do wonders for the feel.
    -kingpin angles are too high for any sort of real speed, but awesome for butt carving.
