Could we get an update (and maybe an expansion) to the first post of this thread? One of the links is broken and some of the tutorials no longer exist.

could an admin please clean up these stickied threads? Theres broken links and ridiculously off topic posts and what not. I feel like this section would be 10 times better if its stickies were maintained better.

Hi builders, i got some ideas for kinds of new Concave made in 3d
i post it here cause i think this thread is best suited ,and the ideas are best suited for "non production" boards cause of the complexity/or crazyness

so , 2 first pics , i call this the "Pyramidal" concave , it would be made by laminating progressively smaller veneers on top of each other while still creating a concave shape.

and the 2 last images ,"I need to find a name"concave , would act like a "W" concave, but without the middle part "bump" that so many people complain about , this flat middle part would be good to push and for the rear foot in a tuck while still have the 2 bumps to lock the toes and heals in normal position.
"at the top" use sticky 6mm chrome moldings for car> found almost every were and inexpensive
and the "at the bottom" is triangular wood molding glued as part of the board

I will try some of those on my next boards , and i would love to hear some comments about what you think about those , and maybe try it out for your self and post updates on how it feels/perform

Hey man that looks like some cool ideas, but does anyone know how to make a simplified loyal dean board. Any help would be great.

Those look pretty steezy, but I feel as though the pyramid concave will delam like mad when you start to carve on it. Like, at the extreme, if you stand on both rails, it will peel off from the inside, thin layers.

yeah maybe ?! but i think the 1/8 or 1/16 ply/steps will flex insted of adding resistance and delam
maybe if there was 1/4 step it would be stronger and delam IDK "to be tested soon"

The Rasterbator. Its a program that lets you print large images onto separate pieces of computer paper that line up to make one large pic. Basically makes lining up images easy so you dont have to do any editing yourself.

I figure this could be useful for making stencils for your board graphics.

I know this program) Old good stuff. Too old I think and there are many programs, which produces posters with better quality now. For example, I use this banner maker and I find it more powerful, than Rasterbator.

i done some testing and figured the maximum bend you can do with (Baltic birch/BB) 1/8" without steam or anything but a good mold/press
    >>>3" radius<<<
    i try a 2.5"radius and it cracks
here is a picture of what the bend looks like (30*with 3"radius bend on the sides)

last picture have a 6"wheel on it just to show

very very easy and simple. ensure you have your center line(s) drawn and do not use this spray adhesive on bare WOOD. use 3M GENERAL purpose SPRAY adhesive sold every where walmart for example.
First a strong suggestion, mask off every thing you dont want this sticky spray on. so masking tape and plastic as needed!
Hold the can at least 8" or so away WATCH OUT FOR DRIPS!! and give a quick spray just enough to make the area tacky. and do the same with the paper print off. JUST enough to make it tacky NO MORE!!! If its wet you have WAY WAY WAY WAY to much I'm talking just a dusting. the paper will not move or curl on you. make your cuts drill your holes what ever it is you need to do and remove the paper sooner then later. If the paper does not come off lackerthinner works best but acetone works also. USE GLOVES and a a clean cotton rag non-colored in a well ventilated area! If its on bare wood your dumb! only way to remove it is to sand it off (sticky spray and ripped paper) and even then your prob grinding the chemical into the wood.

    Hi everybody
So, I'm about to build my own longboard. I've seen tutorials, clips etc. and almost everything is clear to me.
I'm just wondering about one thing - my weight. Well, Imma big guy, something around 90kg.
Two 6mm Birch plywood panels will be fine ? Or am I supposed to use three ?

    cheers!

two 6mm is the equivalent to 4 3plys, so yeah, the current board i'm riding has a 35" wb, and almost an inch of concave, but its really stiff. its also fiberglassed. it has 4 3mm sheets, so yeah , go for it, it will probably be flexy.

if you use only BB , i weight about 160lbs and my 32" Wheel base was to flexible with only 4 x (1/8" 3 ply) so i made it 5x 1/8"ply = (5/8" thick)and it still have a very tiny flex in it

Use cardboard and origami... i wont show you but you can achieve good and new shapes without stressing the wood

1- yeah! to have concave all the way to the drop section can be hard to do

The origami reference is also relevant....A two dimensional sheet, formed into a three dimensional shape: strategy is required.
