    Default Longboard Trailer

Following on the Rolls Rolls trailer I've seen, I'd like to make a longboard trailer to carry my little amp across campus to jam with some guys. Anyone have any ideas on how to build one?

Platform that mounts to the amp with an extra truck on the back, I'd say orient it the same direction as the tractor board's front truck so that when the amp leans the truck turns INTO the lean, instead of away (which would make more lean and may cause a nasty oscillation) maybe just put really hard bushings in it. You don't have to use a truck if you rig up an axle with wheels. Soft skate wheels would be good so you don't see a lot of drag/vibration. Front of platform needs a ball joint to attach to the tail of your deck. You could go even simpler than a ball joint, not sure what, maybe a thick rubber strap attached to both board and trailer something to let the board turn and lean independently.

lol i could use this to tow my "water pipe" i do this already and have been for many years when i need to transport it.... the "tractor" board is a landyachtz switch with swiss ceramics bear grizzlies and otang in heat wheels... trailer board is a loaded dervish with paris 180s and bustin wheels with loaded bearings..... front wheels on the der went in the drop part of the switch and i duct taped them nice and tight and it really wasent bad im sure this works loads better and i could be intrested in this since longboards are my means of transport i some times have loads that are just to heavy for my back to to big to carry comfortably for long periods of time Name: IMG_3447.jpg

I would think that a single truck trailer and a fifth wheel style connection would be ideal.

Fifth wheel is where the trailer mounts to the top of the tractor part...like a pickup truck with a camper trailer that mounts in the bed rather than to the two hitch.

This way you could tie into the truck mounting hardware so as to not drill additional holes to the tractor board. One of the truck mounting screws could be replaced with a large eye hook that would stick up above the deck and then the trailer could latch onto that with one of those hooks that has a spring loaded latch.

I think the rear truck would be best set up with stiff bushings and the kingpin tight as hell. God only knows what a heavy item like an amp will do if allowed to cause the trailer to turn...it will be opposite to the rider's lean (inertia will cause it to lean away from turns, not into them like the rider does). There really isnt a need for the trailer to turn in the same way a camper trailer doesnt need to turn.

i like this guys idea of a fifth wheel. if you used a dropdown deck as the trailer to keep it level and just add bigger wheels/risers to the back(only) truck of the trailer to level it out. then work out some pivot system for the hitch, and take the bushings out of the trailers truck and stack washers in their place to eliminate all lean/turn from them since you have the pivotal hitch

Longboard Larry built the best trailer hitch for a longboard. Rob Thompson used it going across China. I think I bought his last one but he can make more. It works very well and allows you to use most longboards as a trailer you just remove the front truck and use washers instead of bushings on the rear.

yea it handles pretty well i mean the load i carry is no more than 15lbs so i keep my trucks medium loose, and ive never thought of it as a "5th wheel "design but now that you mention it it is one..... and it actually handles quite well with it on there
