Default Put up or Shut up.

    A call out.

For everyone on this forum giving board building advise here's your chance to prove you've even built a board. All in one condensed thread. Throw them pictures up or be recognized for the read and repeat mimic parrot you are.
Actual board builders, I don't care how bad you think your board is, if you've put your time in and built it with blood, sweat, sawdust and tears that's all that matters.

And don't give me that crap about not owning a camera. Hell I've seen homeless dudes snapping cell phone pics of passing hot chicks while all dirty and doe eyed looking for a free McChicken sandwich or a cig...

is it valid if all you did was cut the deck outta a piece of ply and sanded it down? or does it have to be pressed etc etc.

Not that I give out a lot of advice so far, since I haven't built that many boards yet... Here's my first though:

8mm BB and 3 layers of bi-axial fibreglass (1 on top and 2 on the bottom) pressed in vacuum.

Oh yeah, completely valid in my book. As far as I'm concerned that's board building. A lot of builders do just that. Shaping is a Huge part of board building IMO. Starting with flat ply you can work your skills and go onto different building techniques or just perfect what your doing.

Here's one of the first boards I posted here on the Fish. Flat as can be 1/2" BB. Shaped, stained, painted and fun as hell.

Nice Ollesv, I remember seeing this board and really liking it. Super cool lines.

    Just a thought;

Maybe the call out for those who've given advice on board building to demonstrate that they've built something using the method/materials they've advised on.

Sounds great to me. I remember one guy going off at me about his expertise with technique a couple of weeks back, who as far as I can see (doing a search) has never posted a picture of a single board here.

If you are making it and are giving advise show us the money shots...!

oh right, i just assumed it was to show people who actually build, i only give advice when im asked, or if its something i definately know alot about, so im guessing this wasn't directed at me. a well.

Yup. That also helps curtail the curse of the specialist:

"I'm a lawyer so of course I know all about running a business, country, project, etc..."

Funny thing though, regardless how smart or well trained the induhvidual, there still remains a huge gulf between hypothetical knowledge of vs. practical knowledge how to...

BTW Ted, how and where would you like the information/pics on the Prize board?
Have quite a bit of a writeup together since it includes the step by step stuff for the kits.
Been building lots of little add-ons and upgrades that are cooking along as well.

the lines are reflection off of the siding. I give credit to arcane for his sanding write-up.

a process photo, there was still much sanding and more stain/poly following this pic.
