Finally purchased a Hoodwalker! What do you guys think about setting it with narrow tkp and big wheels?
Thinking about indy or bennett... Like a kind of pumper dancer (if that is something doable...).

depends on what you want to do...if boardwalking/dancing is your thing go with RKPs they are just more stable for footwork. if you plan on Manny' Shuvits, no complys and the like go with TKP's they work better. Keep your wheels below 70mm for either

Great answer, thanks. I will have to think about it because i want to learn all of the above mentioned tricks...

Maybe tkp to contrast with my half dance on 180 rkp!

Ok, i am thinking either bennett vectors 5.0 or Minilogo 8.38 on my recently purchased Hoodwalker (tkp cause of thd kicktail!).
While i like minilogos a lot, i can't predict their feel on a 33 wb.
But what thrills me is the bennett idea... I might eat **** when going fakie but as a secondary dancing deck i feel like they would be a blast. Anyone have any experience on bennetts and long WB???

I have all of my dancers set up to pump at least somewhat. I love surfing and hate kick-pushing around on those high trucks and wheels. aggravates my achilles and plantar fasciitis. Soft bushings and wedging goes a long way towards making an RKP more pumpable while retaining some of that stability. My 50deg. Randals are the most pumpable but I'm in love with my 47deg. Gullwing Reverses right now.

If you are into the idea of TKP, might I humbly suggest Indy 215's? They are SO FUN and give a little bit of enjoyable unpredictability on a longer wheelbase (I believe the technical term is "fun as sh*t?). I have them on a 55" flexy fun-board and they are the serious business for pumping from the nose like a long(surf)board. It's a directional board so the front is wedged and back is de-wedged. I get up to a sketchy speed in like three twitches between the trucks and the flex. wheeeeee!

@papapotbelly This is slightly off dancing topic, but do have any wedging on the Randals? On the weekend I strapped a few unused bits and pieces together as a carver/pumper experiment - Randal 180s, 50 deg with some tall conical 90a Riptides roadside and I think 93a Krank barrels boardside, a set of old orange In Heats and a Jeffy II which has some torsional flex. Tested it for bite in the garage, then gave it a couple of twitches and it just took off. Now I can't wait to go out on it properly.

Was just curious if I can get more response to pumping or just leave it as is.
Impressive selection of wood, metal and urethane goes here.

Thanks! Indys are an option but i would not go wider than 169 because my hoodwalker is about 8,5" wide on the truck mounts!

I'd personally put some 150 Randall's on it … but … that is my opinion.
I have a Daywalker that I dance/freestyle with … and I didn't dig the 169's on it … didn't have the "flow" that I wanted for boardwalking. Mannys felt good … but those can be done on RKP's as well.
It's all preference … try it all out and see how it goes for ya.

you can go wider than the board you just need to use center set wheels....FWIW it feels really tippy on 169's if you are doing any boardwalking....same thing with 150's RKP's

Manny's feel NORMAL on Indy's and other TKP trucks....they can be "done" on RKP's but they will never feel normal

Lucky i know not what normal means due to my lack of experience!

As for RKP or TKP debate i see now that truck width is more important for dancing, right?
Gecko, you would go 180 in any case, then?

That sounds like a fun setup.

The Randals are on my Skywalker, which is symmetrical, so I don't have any wedging since the "front" changes when I do shuv's, pivots, etc. You will certainly make it more pumpable wedging the front 5-7 degrees and de-wedging the back 10-15 degrees, but at the expense of not being able to go both directions with stability, and adding a lot of "twitch", which if you still want to dance it at all is no bueno. You'll feel like a newb doing a basic cross step and shimmying like a nursing home patient lol.

Frary and Sean were laughing at how "loose" I had my trucks at first when I rode with them... then they all wanted to take turns pumping it! It's even more fun in some ways than my walkabout with Bennet Tracker and the whole 9 yards.

    Quick question:
I took all grip of the half dance except the kicks as i have seen some poeple do. My confidence when boardwalking has boosted but when sliding i miss some grip... is there some kind of minimal griptape or grip paint for dancing?
I have thought of spray glueing some bits of ungritty sandpaper, for example...

There was a pic of a board frary made for a girl that had a neat grip job, but I can't find it. If you don't want to cover the whole thing cut some small circles and put them where you need them. Get creative!

Put some griptape near the edges at your outer standing platform and kicks. Leave out the middle for doing pirouettes and stuff.
