    Default The Magic Bearings Thread!

They're here! And they're green and purple and really really fast!

    Woohoo! Only $8.99 in stores!

This is the thread: if you've been on silverfish you know what to do. You can ask smart questions, stupid questions, ridiculous questions, anything you want pretty much.

Here's a little bit about the company.

So where did Magic Bearings come from?
Magic Bearings stemmed from a desire to be more involved and give back to something I enjoy: downhill shredding. A friend gave me the idea to look at bearings and I realized: except for a few niche companies, everyone just buys trick skate bearings, and those profit dollars fly away, never to be seen again. If there was a bearing company that focused on the interests of the community, those dollars could be turned around and used to grow the scene.
The goal was straightforward: release a great skate bearing, for less than $10, and bring it to skaters everywhere, not just a few core shops. It took a lot more time, money, and samples than was expected, but the end product was worth it.
    I thought bearings didn’t matter?
That doesn’t mean you don’t want good ones! There are bearings out there that are higher precision, or come packed with all kinds of gimmicks and marketing bullsh*t, but for the price there’s none better. A lot of effort went into getting the right bearings, and I couldn’t be happier with what’s resulted.
    Why green and purple?
There was simply no other option.
Do Magic Bearings have an ABEC rating?
Skating rips apart ABEC numbers faster than my dog rips apart math homework.
    Magic “Racing” Bearings?
While Magics have proved themselves to be nothing but smooth and fast all day long and at any speed, the lube used in Magics provides optimal performance at RPMs that translate to between 20 and 120 mph on 70-75mm wheels, ideal for racing speeds.
What are some plans for the future?
More bearings, more colors, more products, and more shredders on the team. And to keep listening to both customers and retailers so that the current trend of growth and improvement stays right on track.
    Where can I buy Magics?
A big shout out to the shops that were with me from the beginning: Phat Deanz and XTreme Boardshop. A few more shops on the East and West coasts will be getting their bearings soon as well. A lot of retailers are hesitant about bringing new companies on the scene into their shops so if you want Magics, ask for them! If you're a shop, and interested in learning more, get in touch!

im excited for these. definately gunna try these out and hopefully find a new favorite in them. they look great and i couldnt expect the performance to be anything else. there are great riders on the team and from a typical fish member i seems alot of time and devotion went into these, and the market for a bearing like this is lacking. im glad they are finaly out. mad props to team magic. you guys are wizards

Neither. I got in touch with bearing manufacturers all over the world (and almost all of them make skate bearings for SOMEONE) and found the best bearings at a pretty good price. It took a lot more time and money than I thought but I'm very pleased with the results in the end.

    edit:

    p.s. i want 10mm
I'm not gonna lie and say I've done a chemical analysis of everyone else's lubes and they are inferior. What I do know is that my bearing manufacturer gave me the option of several different lubricants that they use in various applications, and I tested them all. The high speed lubricant outperformed the others and has never let me down. I've set my own personal speed records on every hill I've hit on them, and they're smooth as glass kicking around.

10mm are coming as soon as I can afford custom tooling.

Jeez, this whole time I thought the talk about "magic bearings" I had seen on various threads throughout the 'Fish was just some sort of joke after too many inquiries and threads about bearings...

I didn't realize the actual name of the brand/company is "MAGIC BEARINGS"...lmao!

If I didn't buy a bunch of MHS bearings cause the bulk price was good, I'd surely give these a try...

You can call Xtreme Boardshop in Glendora on monday, they should have the bearings by then and ship worldwide. Phat Deanz will get a box as soon as I get his payment. I'm talking with a lot of other retailers but they're slower to accept a new guy on the scene.
