I am by no means brand loyal so open to anything. I have been reading up on most of the truck offerings and wheels there are so many it will make your head spin.

I'm leaning toward the Rogue Cast, Ronin, or new Randall IIIs.

With the DZ does core placement playing any factor on what wheels to look at or stay away from, or do they all play nice. And looking all the 70-80mm options.

The advantage to the DZ is also its limitation it likes big wheels and will drag with wheels in the 70mm range (why anyone would run little wheels on such a board I don't know but people do). I wouldn't go below 75mm just because having big wheels makes you feel like you are one a train. If you are worried about weight of a big wheel look are cored wheels such as Seismics. CRonins are another choice as far as Trucks go

Random question ... has anything ever been sold under the Dark Matter or Puzzy names mentioned in the FB group title?
Impressive selection of wood, metal and urethane goes here.

Pretty stoked, my DZ is hot on the press now. Now if I can make up my mind on a design for it. Definitely going with the KillBilly Speedball graphic. Thinking just straight up blonde, but Rus's metal flake schemes are killer.

The benefit of being able to work out the details with the builder is being able to choose. Go for a metal flake color from the last sale...that blue with the KBSB graphic on it was killer!

I know all these things are subjective and personal preference, but just getting back into skating and a first for longboarding wanted to get some ideas. I'm a 40yr old kid that just wants to have fun cruising around and riding some low level hill runs. Don't think I'll be strapping a full face and leathers on anytime soon.

Sorry for the long winded rant

Trucks are personal choices...I use Rojas and Iliffe trucks on my DZoo and mini DZoo. Use what you like, there, but I'll bet the Randall 3's would be fun!

Regardless it needs a big wheel. I love the Seismic SPeed Vents on mine. I use their 77mm or the 85mm SV's. For the most part I use the DZ's for LDP type stuff, but when I toss it down a hill with the SV's, they grip and roll like a bus with no brakes. I can't see putting smaller wheels on it...would think it would be sluggish.

Try your favorites...but stay on the big side for wheels. Have fun, still my favorite deck in my quiver!!

By the way. The metal flake truly kicks ass and it's a very durable long-lasting finish. Something to consider I guess

    That's my board!

Really love it, will try to post pics soon.
Set up w/ blue 85mm Speed Vents, 1/4" risers on DT Trippins
TKP's are surprisingly good; think it has to do w/ the built in wedge/dewedge

My buddy tried to ruin it by describing the finish as glitter... bah

Look above this original post. Those are pics of my DZ with 85mm SV's. Bennett / Randall trucks, wedged slightly. I started at 65mm went to 75mm and settled on the 85mm and couldn't be happier! I've also done the spherical mod to the Bennett. This setup is awesome for ldp! Fyi, with 85mm wheels the deck height is only about 3 1/4". That includes the wedge and some risers. No chance of wheel bite either.

Btw, I just turned 47 the day before this pic was taken.

    I love this Mini DZ!!!!!

Thanks for the help and advice guys. I'm leaning toward the cRogues. Will them being 186mm be ok? Also I'll look into wheels. I was thinking Kegel' s but I will look into the SVs now.
