didn't say they weren't good for high speed (what I use them for mostly), just that they were the first good wheels for lower speed sliding.

Has anyone here done a toeside headslide without hands? Anytime I take my hands off the road my helmet usually grips up and jerks my head up. Would just using a puck on my helmet fix that?

Chris Dahl had a wafer thin slide puck melted on an old WW2 helmet

Hey guys. I'm new to tech sliding, just got my first double kick setup (Bustin Street 8.5 deck, Thunder Trucks, 90a 57mm Street Hawgs), but I'm having a bit of trouble with it. Sliding on such a small deck feels really awkward to me. The most I can muster are standup 180s, I can't even check on such a small board. I've been told before I have a large stance, and I usually ride a 38" board, so I imagine that has something to do with it. Does anyone have any advice as to how I can get more comfortable with a street deck and perhaps shrink my riding stance?

    Thanks in advance.

Damn i typed out a lengthy response and SF didn't post it. Briefly then.
I switched from a 24" wb to a 16" (yoface 35) and found everything too responsive. All my motions were exaggerated on the small board, including weight.
What i reall found helpful were a few days in the park. I live in Boston so we have a big Vans skatepark, hitting the bowls walls ramps and ledges there really helped me get a feel for how the board reacted to weighting. With that knowledge i took it to the hill and found sliding much easier. I usually have my front foot on bolts, and my back foot just outside, jammed into the tail pocket.
I started with carving hard both ways down the hill till I found that slashy sweet spot where you're still gripping w/ the front but the back is sliding out. From there I just slashed harder and harder till the 4 wheels broke out. The front breaks much earlier than you're used to and really freaked me out the first few times.
Anyway, carve hard and pad up. Remember all your movements are exaggerated on a short wb, and skate street as much as you slide. It really helps control

Lean back further than you think, slash it out in one motion and make an effort to hold it there
